If your center has enrolled in the Clean Air for Carolina Kids study, and an air quality monitor has been installed outside your center, please read on for more information on how to access your air quality monitoring data.

We are using two different types of monitors to collect air quality data:

PurpleAir PA-II-SD

PurpleAir PA-II-SD is a solar-powered sensor that monitors PM2.5, along with outdoor temperature and humidity. These sensors will operate and collect data continuously for the study’s duration and will then be donated to the enrolled childcare facilities at the end of the project.

Air quality data for PurpleAir monitors can be viewed on their real-time monitoring map. To find your center's monitor, just search by your center's address and click on the colored dot that is closest to your building. Clicking on the dot will provide information about current air quality conditions. For more information about how to interpret your monitor's real-time data, please visit the PurpleAir Map Guide.

After the 2-year monitoring period, we will donate this equipment to your facility to continue monitoring air quality conditions in your area. While the monitor does not require much maintenance aside from ensuring a stable Wi-Fi connection, there is more information on how to maintain the equipment on the Sensor Monitor page.

Aeroqual AQY-R

Aeroqual AQY-R micro air quality monitoring stations collect real-time O3 and NO2 data. While all enrolled facilities have a PurpleAir monitor, not all centers have an AQY-R monitor. Check back for results from Aeroqual AQY-R monitors!
